The Show Car Nationals have been hosted by MIS for more than a decade and has allowed the track to be even more involved with the community.

"This event not only helps the Kiwanis Club of Onsted, but allows members from the community and other states the chance to see what MIS has to offer besides great racing," track Director of Guest Services Tim Booth said.

The event is a great chance for car enthusiasts to show off their pride and joy, and receive recognition for their hard work. More than 130 awards will be handed out. Participants will also have the chance to cruise the high banks of the historic two-mile oval, something most people can only dream about.

Spectators can experience the 18 degrees of banking in the track's turns at a slightly slower speed by cruising around the track on a tram. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Tram Track Rides will be available with a $1 donation per person, making the experience all the more rewarding.

Rain or shine, gates open at 7 a.m., and the "early birds" can enjoy an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast served by Onsted Boy Scout Troop 637 for $5.

The car show will kick off at 10 a.m. with the singing of the U.S. and Canadian National Anthems. Throughout the day, arts and crafts and other vendors will be on hand, and concessions will also be available by the Onsted Athletic Boosters. The day will also include entertainment for attendees listening pleasure, as the a cappella doo-wop group The GelCaps will perform live at 1 p.m.

Admission for spectators of the Show Car Nationals is one dollar, with children under the age of 14 admitted free. Those who wish to participate in the car show may still register the day of the show before noon for $20 for the show, or $25 for the show and the cruise.
