Corvettes at MIS Return on Aug. 4-5
The Sixth Annual Corvettes at Michigan International Speedway presented by AutoWeek will return to the Irish Hills during the IndyCar® Series Firestone Indy 400 weekend, Aug. 4 and 5.
The Corvette show is an opportunity for car lovers to unite and admire the Chevrolet masterpiece, as well as watch some of the best racing the two-mile oval has to offer. Of course, the Indy cars won't be the only automobiles traveling around the track, as Corvettes in the show will also have the opportunity to participate in a parade lap.
"When I think of an American classic, Corvette is the only car that comes to mind," Corvette admirer and speedway President Roger Curtis said. “Corvettes at MIS is a chance for IndyCar fans to see the car that has participants in the show so enthralled.”
All registered Corvettes, and their owners, will take to the high banked oval Saturday evening at 6:15 following IndyCar Series qualifying. As an added bonus to those participants who pre-register, 30 Corvettes will be randomly selected to participate in an additional parade lap Sunday morning at 8:15.
Awards will be handed out on both Saturday, Aug. 4 and Sunday, Aug. 5. Celebrity judges will choose their favorite specimen of a Corvette throughout the day on Saturday, with awards being presented at 5 p.m. Previous celebrity judges have been open wheel legends Johnny Rutherford and Al Unser, Indy Racing League Founder and CEO Tony George, and local media personalities.
On Sunday, spectators will be able to decide who receives a trophy with the People’s Choice Judging throughout the day and awards being presented approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Firestone Indy 400. In addition, a silent auction will be held both days, with proceeds benefiting the National Corvette Museum.
Corvette enthusiasts may reserve their spot in the show for $60, which includes both Saturday and Sunday admission to the show as well as two grandstand tickets for Saturday IndyCar Series practice and qualifying and two grandstand tickets to Sunday’s Firestone Indy 400, with children 12 and under admitted free both days.
Space for the show is limited, those interested in showing off their pride and joy should call the Corvette Hotline at 517.592.6666 or visit MISpeedway.com.
